The seminar addressed the production of clean energy in rural areas, laying emphasis on the cooperation methodology between public and private partnerships when undertaking a project.

RuralEEvolution_06may2010RuralE•Evolution organised on 6 May a Seminar on Renewable Energy in Rural Areas at the Intercoop headquarters in Castellón. The purpose of this seminar was to put forward the interim results achieved by this methodology, which offers different ways of cooperation between the public and the private sector, by way of carrying out joint actions for the production and use of renewable energies in rural municipalities.

The seminar highlighted the objectives pursued by RuralE•Evolution: on the one hand, it aims to support clean energy to curb climate change and promote energy sufficiency; on the other hand, it intends to reinvigorate rural areas, thus preventing rural flight and giving an added value to these municipalities by diversifying their activities.

A roundtable closed the seminar, in which key sustainability features in the field of energy were disclosed, as well as the advantages of energy efficiency. These initiatives specially underlined the importance of using renewable energies to achieve interregional development. AVAESEN (Valencian Association of Renewable Energy Companies) and the company Campos Eléctricos, S.L., took part in this roundtable, among others, and provided their viewpoint on the current situation and trend in this sector.

On the occasion of this Seminar, the RuralE•Evolution partners were holding a Steering Committee on 7 May to assess the results achieved so far, among which are the assessment of several joint work methodologies between public and private agents, and their implementation in different European regions.
