International Conference in Brussels

IMG00305-20110316-0951FCVRE organized an international conference on 16 March in Brussels, at the headquarters of the regional office of Sachen-Anhalt. Among the attendees there were representatives from the private sector as well as regional authorities and European networks.

 

Claudia Fedi, representing the project leader, Coldiretti, was one of the speakers, who explained the results achieved by the Project, as well as the experience of the pilot projects. Moreover, the conference was a perfect forum in order to learn from the major energy and financial players to the latest developments on the field of renewable energy in rural areas, as well as alternative funds for such projects. For this purpose, the FCVRE gave the floor to prominent speakers such as Andy Carty, an adviser to EPEC (European PPP Expertise Centre), who explained the importance of the PPP, the great work by EPEC in energy efficiency and the role that plays the PPP in rural areas. He focused his presentation on energy saving and production, as well as potential European funds to carry out the necessary investments. Another outstanding speaker was Markus Becker, director of energy policy in the EU General Electric, who explained the activity that the company plays in rural areas in relation to the business of renewable energy, taking into account the specificities of these areas, the objectives set by the EU and the state-of-the-art in the existing technology.

 

Public-private partnerships are the bet of the RuralE·Evolution project, these partnerships consist of associations between the public and the private sector to develop a project or service normally provided by the public sector, as it has been proved that the collaboration between private and public agents to improve the efficiency in project management, achieving better results.

Final Conference in Perugia

Diapositiva4On March 25, 2011 the final conference of the Project was held in the framework of the 43rd edition of Agriumbria, one of the most important events in the field of agriculture and agro-energy in central Italy, Perugia.

The conference proceeded as planned with the assistance of more than 200 participants inaugurated by Mr. Lazzaro Bogliari , president of Umbriafiere, followed by Ms. Donatella Tesei, Mayor of Montefalco, and finally Mr. Maurizio Reale, head of international relations of Coldiretti in Brussels.

The seminar included the participation of Ms. Vivarelli, representing the European Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation (EACI), which explained the European Union guidelines on energy issues.

The RuralE.Evolution project was described from multiple points ofview: representing perugiaColdiretti, he project leader, Mr. Armando Fizzaroti gave an overview of the Project, while Mr. Franco Cotana, director of the Biomass Research Center, University of Perugia, focusedmore his speech on the technical side of the project. Finally, Ms. Catia Rosas, representing the Portuguese partner, Confagri, explained her experience in the project and how they have developed the Portuguese pilot project.

Guide for the implementation of PPP´s

The final visible result of the RuralE·Evolution project is the "Methodology for a successful implementation of PPPs to the Agroenergy districts.

The main purpose of this guide is to advise other companies on similar projects. This guide aims to facilitate the organization of the entire bioenergy chain for the sustainable energy production using biomass from rural areas. The methodology was created from the five pilot projects

Logotipo_CONFAGRIAnother interesting event to report was the meeting on environmental best practices done by Agricultural Organizations, held on 16 November 2010 in Brussels, organized by COPA-COGECA, which was attended by 30 participants. It showed some examples of best environmental practices.

 

Ms Catia Rosas, representing CONFAGRI, used the opportunity to talk about some projects where CONFAGRI is working, in particular on the RuralE.Evolution one.

3local initiative portugal 3lowEl 22 de septiembre, CONFAGRI celebró la tercera iniciativa local en Vidigueira, Alentejo. A la reunión asistieron técnicos de las cooperativas agrarias y de bancos cooperativos del sur de Portugal, principalmente de Alentejo.

El objetivo de esta sesión fue dar publicidad a los objetivos y primeros resultados del proyecto RuralE·Evolution, así como el papel de UCASUL y el ayuntamiento de Alvito.
